Mongolia

(Everyone can now comment on the blog without any “publisher”/account or other. Just put your name to comment or do it anonymous. We changed the settings.)

We spent three nights and four days in the countryside of Mongolia. The first and the last night we enjoyed a home stay in the local families. We slept all three nights in the Mongolian gers (die Jurte, Jurtta). In the families we got the “children’s room” for us and the whole family stayed for the night in one ger. In both families they only had these two “tents” where they also live in the winter when it´s -30 or so.

The first family lived in the middle of a desert. We were offered the salty milk-tea for the first time. During the four days we drank a lot of it. The food was very simple and Maija felt at home as the food was grey and the only spice was salt. It was tasty! We also got some local Lörtsy.

We had our own driver Bimba, a 25 year old young father of one year old boy. We are now facebook friends! His English was more than simple, but we got along well! We ofcourse had so much fun calling him Bambi or Bimppa.

We spent the third night in a tursuleiri, turist camp in turist gers, where s local guy came to sing us traditional Mongolian music and played funny instruments. He was only 60, but looked like 90 and had to be the wrinklies guy on the planet.

More to the days maybe later ;). Time to eat.
