From Ulan Bator to Irkutsk

After the tour in Mongolia we still stayed one day in Ulan Bator and visited some temples. Civilisation was quite welcome after the last night in the family ger where we heated up the tent with dryed horse poo and hunted mice. The lake scenery was beautiful, but after this visit it was a difficult decision in the train to choose between our horse poo travel sheet or the trains dog puke blanket ;). Luckily we had left half of our belongings in the hostel in Ulan Bator so only half of our cloths stank like horse poo.

Here some pictures from the 36 hours train travel between Ulan Bator, Mongolia and Irkutsk, Russia and the 6 hours minivan travel to the Olkhon island. In Mongolia we were puzzled because of the no alcohol day more than once. So no beer or wine for the train travel ;). Luckily some pulla though. Picture from the mongolian pulla for Lauras pulla studies underneath. Very tasty! even some almond chips on top. The best pulla until now has been the one from Olkhon island soviet style supermarket. It had a strong vanilla taset and in the bag with all the russian text two words in latin letters: boulangerie belgique! (sorry if my spelling is wrong;))

  3. Kivaa Minna, että olet löytänyt tänne! Terveisiä kotijoukoille! Laura, Mongolian no alcohol day oli päällä ainakin presidentinvaalipäivänä, mutta sitten myös ihan tavallisena torstaina. Ei päästy selvyyteen ;). Maija
